This subject has been discussed here quite a few times, might try a search.

FWIW...In a nutshell...Maple fingerboards are usually brighter, where rosewood fingerboards are a little darker sounding all else being equal of course.

All of my guitars have rosewood fingerboards. I find it easier to play (IMHO) and I just flat our like the feel of unfinished wood under my fingers as opposed to the "plasticky" (if that's a word) feel of the maple fretboard.

Its all a matter of preference. Rosewood/Ebony fretboards help give a little darker tone. I think I can dig into the fretboard for string bends on a rosewood fretboard, but I feel the maples are faster. It's all in my head, but its just an opinion. Most Fenders have a very thin finish and their not Nitro so your hands won't stick to them like they would on a Gibson.

Cosmetically, some guitars look better with rosewood or maple. That may be a factor as well.

DetroitBlues may have ben stating his opinion, but it happens to be my opinion too. I agree with every word......and I still own both because of those suttle differences.
