Hello everybody,

I'm new here and just bought my first (of many, I hope) Fender Stratocaster.
It was barely used and I bought It for a fair price.
The serial number tells me it was made at the Ensenada Plant, Mexico, between 2003 - 2004.
But I don't know the model of Stratocaster nor the specifications of my guitar.
How can I find out?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Lucasbmm,

Post a couple of pics, and someone here can probably ID the guitar. Closeup pics of the front of the headstock, pick guard, and full front view of guitar would help.

Upload your pics to a publicly accessible site such as PhotoBucket. Once uploaded, each pic will have an "IMG" code that you can copy and paste into your post here. After pasting the code, click "Preview" or "Submit" and your pics will be visible in your post.

It looks like a Mex Standard with a new pick guard, pup covers and knobs, possibly even an FSR, which simply means a different color finish and plastic than a regular Mex Std, otherwise the same.

Find specs here:

Hi

Thank you very much.
I just found the Stratocaster writing in the headstock very different from the Standard model.
I'm also very impressed with sound it makes. I didn't expect it to be so fantastic being a Standard made in Mexico.

As for the color and the pickguard, I believe it may be different from the classic ones, but it does not indicate any special issue.

An I also find it very classy! Thanks!

Looks very much like a satin finish. Nice looking instrument.

edit: Sorry, just read a previous post that revealed it is indeed a satin finish.

I have one of those right here next to my desl and I can pretty much guarantee you that yours is a stock guitar.

All of the Satin series Strats that I've seen have had black pick guards and knobs and the usual choice of Maple or Rosewood fingerboards. Other than that, they're just regular old MIMs. Unfortunately, they're not the best of the series. Later model MIMs have better electrics and pickups but if the price was right, I guess the guitar is right.

I sanded off the Satin top coat on mine (Hated it!) and polished mine up and it's now much nicer looking and a swap to a custom neck and some decent pickups have made if a pretty nice guitar to have around and I'll never have to worry about knocking it over or scratching it.

Please note that MIMs respond well to hardware upgrades and a Callaham trem system (Or at least the saddles!) and a full size steel block will transform your guitar.

enjoy!

Heres mine!
