Hey guys! I'm here to seek help regarding this beautiful Strat I'm planning to buy.
It's an MIK Strat (it says so under the "Fender" logo), serial number CN328128. It says "Fender" on the headstock...until you reach the rounded end when it says "Squier Series."

So this makes me wonder about two things: (A) is it more of a Squier than a Fender? and (B) is it a genuine Fender/Squier instrument?

*the fact that it can be either a Fender or a Squier does not really bother me. I'm just really wondering if this thing's for real. I will not spend my money on it if it's a counterfeit. So guys i need your expertise!

It looks legit to me. and just like with MIM strats, I don't think too many people are going to be faking Squier series guitars.

Hi UnderMoonlitSkies,

Squier is owned and made by Fender. It's like asking if a Chevy Lumina is more Chevy or more Lumina.

Looks like one of the original squires. A lot more valuable then modern Squires. What's the rest of it look like?

I used to have one of those. The exact same headstock and also MIK. It was my first guitar. I bought it from the Guitar Center in Hollywood. I loved the fact that it was basically the same logo as the Standard Stratocaster, with only a small "Squier Series" logo.

There was also an MIM version of this guitar, but I believe the "Fender" logo was solid black, not Silver like this one.

The body is red (i don't know which hue of red EXACTLY) with a white pickguard. S/S/S-pickup configuration. Your usual Strat. :)

Really? That's good to know! So tell me, how was the guitar in general? I'm REALLY planning to buy this. Any feedback would be very much appreciated!

I really liked mine. I bought mine when I was 14, so I was thrilled to have something that looked like a legit strat. I learned how to play many songs on it. I thought it was a good instrument at the time, but keep in mind I was in high school. By comparison, I bought my daugther a newer "Hello Kitty" Squier several years ago, and sold it almost immediately. It felt more like a toy.

I just noticed, the "Squier Series" logo on the headstock looks a bit off center. That looks kind of suspicious.

I purchased mine from the Guitar Center sometime in the early 90s for under $200. Although they are rare now at days, I wouldn't pay more than $120 for one today. Hope that helps.

By the Serial Number it was made in Korea. Here is the link http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx

So who knows, call Fender and give them the Serial Number.
