hi , i decided a wee while ago that i'd make the 1985 mij 50's reissue strat into a dave gilmour black strat and it's coming along nicely , if i do say so myself . first up was the black pickguard , that arrived a few days ago , i just finished shortening the trem arm and died the end for the screw on end tip , and i'm just waiting on the S/D ssl-5 pup arriving , which should be sometime this week 8) i'll get a few pics up , cheers
Alan

here's a pic my daughter took last night

the pup arrived today and i got it fitted tonight , first impressions are good (i need to wait till tomorow night to turn things up a bit ) it sounds brighter than the texas specials i fitted a wee while ago , it's very nice sounding through my gilmour setup pedal board ,i'll find out more tomorow night 8) . i also fitted cleaner pup covers to the neck and middle pups to match the new ssl-5 pup , i need to get snowy to bring his gilmour strat up to do a sound comparison between them , i might need to swap out the neck and mid pup but we'll see , cheers
Alan

How did you get the pickup covers to look aged? It looks really good 8)

Does it have the neck selector switch cause I don't see it. Not a big deal I guess if you put it in but you might get a cool sound. I love the sound of the neck and bridge pickups together, thought I'm currently using lace sensors B/S/R. Not really too fond of all three but to each his own.

Anyways very cool, maybe someday I'll do something like this though I'll be going to college next year so it'll have to wait.

You can buy yellowed covers. They are like $5 on eBay. Just look up aged pickup covers or something.

Yellow Pup's are awesome, those are an in-demand part!

thanks guys , it's getting there , had a few hours playing it last night and it sounded excellent using both the big muff and a marshall bluesbreaker for drive (not at the same time :) and it also sounded sweet clean , thing soycd , i don't think i'll bother with the wee switch for now but i might add one in the future who knows , and as for the yellow pup covers they are from 1985 so they are getting on a bit :D i might put them back onto the strat the newer ones just look too bloody white  and just stick one onto the ssl-5 , cheers again guys
