You can tell by the backplate it is fake. On a real Fender, the two middle screw are staggered a bit. The ones on this guitar are lined up evenly. At least that's what I've read.

Oh, and hey, that thing doesn't even have any STRINGS on it. Just sayin'......

You might want to do some research before declaring those reasons. Not all Fenders from the 90's were as QC'd as they are today.

What does not having strings installed have to do with the legitimacy of that Strat.. :?: :?:

I myself certainly don't have enough info to say it is fake, if you do state the reasoning behind your opinion, not just conjecture...

If you don't know, then don't state anything to the contrary....

I remember seeing these guitars at a music store in Saarbruchen Germany while stationed there during the 90's. At the time I thought it was odd that they stamped the Made in USA where they had the "Made in Japan" stickers on guitars imported to the US. The saddles do not look to be original, but everything else is as I remember it.

I saw the same thing in Petersburg, VA when I was there in the '93. I've never seen them since. I was told they were the real thing.

I vote fake. Ditto on the pick guard comment. What would put me off, just from the images, is the application of the serial number; you can see the material the number is on AND the letter/numbers don't seem to line up. I KNOW with counterfeit Gibsons, the noticeable areas are the logo on the headstock (bad alignment and incorrect versions of the logo) along with bad alignment, spacing of the pots and bridge/tailstock and wiring. But, strange enough, even some "experts" have had difficulty in identifying a counterfeit LP in blind playability tests. It is SO sad to think that foreign counterfeits can be (almost) as good as what used to be the American best guitars in the world.
