I bought a new guitar today. It's a Lake Placid Blue 2009 Fender Standard HSS Stratocaster. It's in perfect condition from what I can tell. I got a pretty good deal on it too. My favorite thing about it is the "Original Contour Body" decal on the headstock.

Fender offers the same guitar with a rosewood fingerboard and a Floyd Rose licensed locking trem.

I like the rosewood fretboard, but they can keep the Floyd. They're worthless to me. I do a lot of palm muting, and I can't stand Floyds. I had a Vester with a Floyd once, and I sold it because of the Floyd.

As far as I know it's original. It's very similar if not identical to the string tree on my 2006 HSS:

Sweet. I love HSS Strats, my favourites by miles.

Mine's a totally different colour to yours. That's what being 22 years older does to finish, I s'pose!

New Guitar Day.

There's a whole raft of these... NAD (amplifier), NTD (testicles), etc.

good score there!!HNGD!
evidently the current version of LPB is popular...Mrs.B did my last color-pick for me...
got mine a month ago(new) and hand picked it for resonance....pretty amazing for a MIM guitar.....basically same upgrades as phreeddybee's, and I dropped in a roller string tree ($4.95 for 2)because the origional was too low & cut the 1st 2 ^Es I put on it.

You're right about the upgrades, but phreddybee has replaced the stock parchment Strat control knobs with chrome dome Tele/P-Bass types. The knobs in your axe are the stock parchment types which came as an OEM from the factory.

Did you also plan to upgrade the knobs at a later time?

The "roller" string tree you're talking about is better known as the "EasyGlider". This is the same string tree used on many modern US-made guitars since 1986. Made from hardened steel, the EasyGlider (aka EzyGlider) was first introduced in 1983 with the ill-fated Elite series models. I've the EasyGlider installed in my brother's black Squire Silver Strat.

That is a beauty you have there, but your favorite thing is the Original Contour decal?? Can't say I would buy a guitar for that, but whatever floats the boat... x

That's not the reason I bought it... I didn't even notice it until I got it home. But I think it's very cool. And the rest of the guitar is just as cool, but that decal is the cherry on the top.
