Choosing my 2nd Stratocaster was really difficult. I could choose anything in Fender's current American Lineup.

Since I already had an amazing FSR Ltd. Ed. '57 Stratocaster,

I decided to choose one which was as different as possible from my '57 so I didn't end up with a pair that mirrored each other.

Instead of an AVRI I decided on a 'Modern' Strat.

Instead of an Alder body I decided on Ash.

Instead of a Maple FB, I chose Rosewood.

Instead of a painted body, I chose a Trans finish.

And on and on...

Going through Fender's catalog, the one I came up with that matched my criteria was a 2014 American Deluxe Ash Stratocaster in Aged Cherry Burst.

It is so different from the Vintage RI, but just as amazing !

The Fit & Finish is spot-on. The Compound Radius Neck is great ! I love the N3 noiseless pickup tone (esp. w/ the S1 Switching options).

It plays great, sounds great, looks great, stays in tune remarkably.

Overall, it's just as quality an instrument as my '57, but in very different ways.

IMHO, it's a lot of guitar for the money and you just won't go wrong with one.

cheers!

2 Beautiful Strats and a nice little amp there too.

Nice addition!

What year is that silverface Princeton? It's really clean; almost looks like one of those '68 Custom Princetons that came out last year.

Thanks ! :D

It's a 1973 Princeton Reverb:

I found it several months back serendipitously during a visit to the Dr.'s Ofc. - see: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=92185&p=1039919#p1039919

I also found a terrific 1967 Blackface Deluxe Amp a few months before that:

I decided last Fall to make the committment and go out and find a nice Blackface and/or Silverface Amp(s) before they got so stratospherically priced as to be beyond reach or at least beyond justification for an amateur player.

Burning a ton of virtual Shoe-leather, I found both these one-owner examples for really decent prices - <$1800 for the pair! I must have looked at no less than 50 examples of each before settling on these two. There are lots of these amps out there in great condition, you just gotta search them out.

I've since refreshed the Deluxe and upgraded both speakers to true Date Code-matching vintage Webers, so I'm a little over $2200 invested in the pair (maybe $1000 under what their fair mkt. value would be given their condition).

They will stay at home as I have a Peavey DB 115 to take out for jamming.

They're not going to go down in value, so I have classic Fender Tone which I'll play for many years for free as I'll get all my $$ out on the back end.

cheers!

Great stories on those; I missed the Princeton story as I rarely go through the Fender Lounge section when I visit the site. Those were some really great deals; well worth the time invested.
