I was just surfing around Fender's site above, and looking at all the latest Strat models. This one really caught my eye....

I don't know anything about the American Deluxe version, but I am really digging the color of it, based on the picture of it. Amber colored alder wood body, rosewood fretboard, 22 frets, etc...etc...

It's a sweet looking Strat, but for $2000 bucks?

Really nice. I'd go for it, even though I like vintage frets over medium/jumbo.

Worth every penny. You won't have to pay that much either, I'd've thought. I see loads online for less.

I have a 2001 version and it's all the guitar I'll ever need. They play great, they look great, they smell great.

I tried out one of the new American Deluxe HSS Strats and it was love at first touch. As soon as I put my hand on the neck, I knew that this was "it". It's at the upper end of my budget and I'll have to keep saving my pennies, but I know that I wont be satisfied with anything less. The N3's sounded a bit darker than most Strat pickups, and I wouldn't say that the in-between positions don't quite have the same "quack", but the tone is not objectionable. Perhaps if I had more time, I could dial it in but it is quite clear that this is one of the best Strats that Fender has ever made.

BTW, if anyone would like to make a charitable contribution to my American Deluxe Stratocaster HSS Acquisition Fund, send me a message and I'll provide you with the details so that your donation can be processed expeditiously. :D

American Deluxe Strat.
I Just purchase a American Standard in 2009, I love it. But when I saw the new American Deluxe SSS with the new compound radius neck, and heard the new N3's when I played it, I was sold.
I had back surgery a few years ago, and my Les Paul was starting to get too heavy. I traded it in on the new Deluxe. The regular price at GC was $1499. The gave me $950 for my LP Classic that was from 1995. So I only had to come up with around $500.
I played a number of different Strats that day, including two over $2000, but the neck on that American Deluxe just felt like a personal friend. I all ready had a Sunburst, so I got it in Olympic Pearl, rosewood neck, tortoise shell guard. It's not white, it's really Pearl that glows.
I haven't put it down, and I haven't played my other Strat that much. (that I upgraded with Gold Lace Sensors and a Clapton mid boost). But those N3's really have a powerful sound. I think it's a beautiful guitar. I'll put pictures up, as soon as I get a real camera. My trac fone camera is junk, but it makes phone calls.

We've had a really hot time on the Eldred Forum this weekend about price. It is what it is and you have to decide if the juice is worth the squeeze, in your own mind. Yes, its a helluva guitar and a street price of 30% off MSRP might be a good negotiating point, particularly for a sales person whose looking to make the monthly production. Shop around and play them.

I have one and play the new ones regularly. They are worth every penny. Best strats for the money.

My friend has one, and it an awesome guitar. You can get soo many different sounds and it's a really well made guitar. The S-1 switch is awesome...playing a strat then... WAM BAM! it sounds like your playing a Les Paul. REALLY awesome guitar.

I like mine. I got an HSS because I wanted the LSR nut. I paid $1,300 online, free shipping, no sales tax. That took a little negotiating, not an advertised price. I love the compound radius neck. The N3's are a little dark, but very quiet and easily come alive with some amp settings. The S1 switch gives a lot of variety. Even the passing lane switch is usable at times. Overall, I think it is well worth the price.

Mines an older one with HSS configuration, and SCN noiseless pups. It plays and sounds great, and I picked it up new as a leftover for $850 I could'nt not buy it.

I like to change my electronics around more to modern standard with dimarzios. They have such great tone they really are top shelf. The lsr system and humbucker its a voodoo machine. Still with all the strat feeling there is. Sound man loved it.
As a pro musician in Zoya every repair adjustment or upgrade was easy and i appreciated that. Now days im just being semi pro with it. So its very durable.

I own a 2010 American Deluxe V Neck. It's my favorite modern Strat and I can't think of anything I don't like about it. I love vintage Strats too, but there are times when I enjoy noiseless pickups and S-1 switching. Its compound radius V neck is one of the best Strat necks I have ever played. It's a long term keeper for sure.

They usually charge $1500 USD in most reputable stores, sometimes less. I played one in the store when I bought my American Standard. I was a different color. I think they are worth every cent: locking tuners, roller nut, albone dots, N3 noisless pickups, and a contoured heel. Lovely guitar!!!

I've had three American Deluxes in the last 15 years or so and I still have two of them. They also happen to be the only two guitars in my collection that I consider completely safe from my ever wanting to sell them. I've mentioned a number of times in the past that a couple of years ago I sold a whole lot of gear. The only reason I sold the other American Deluxe in that sell off was because it was essentially a duplicate of my first; almost an exact duplicate. In my mind they are worth the extra coin but don't ask me why. It's not something you can describe in words and that's exactly the reason we sometimes see debates on here about it. It's a feel thing that can't be explained to the satisfaction of the naysayers. Only you can decide if it's worth it to you. It is to me. I also have some non American models and they are fine instruments in their own right but they aren't in the same league as an American Deluxe.

YMMV.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Man, you are tellin' it like it is. The funny thing is that when I tried the Deluxe, I also tried an American Standard HSS just as a point of reference and I really liked the Standard (I currently own a superb '93 American Standard Strat). It's a very fine guitar, but from the moment I laid my hand on the Deluxe Strat's neck, there was no looking back. A bit on the pricey side, but to me it's worth it.
