Point to ponder: "Modification" or "Upgrade"?

I am not the original poster BUT I think that I am convinced and I want to put in a set of Texas Specials. Could someone point me to a detailed video of just how to replace the pickups. Since I have never done surgery on a guitar before, I definitely don't want to mess up my MIM strat! God forbid that I would end up having to get another strat :D By the Way, I did watch the youtube video by Seymore Duncan but it did not leave me with that warm fuzzy feeling if you know what I mean.

TBF: at the outset, make sure you can solder like a Michaelangelo. The rest comes easy.

I admit that if you haven't soldered before it can look a little daunting, but, I use to solder for a living and it don't get anymore basic than this. :)

Party on dude!

1. Pickups--I like the Alnico III's (like in my HWY 1), Tex-Mex, and Texas Specials. I have not heard (or knowingly heard) Lindy Fralins, but they always get good reviews. I also like Dimarzio pickups.

2. New bigger block for better sustain

3. New pots, caps, and wiring

Other things to consider:

Different pickguard, different color plastic pieces/knobs, new tunners.

Love to see before and after pics.

Now he's got the cost benefti ratio of buying a new guitar with all the bells and whistles, or just the parts and the DIY.

Since we are on the cost versus :?: factor.....

I submit TBX tone swap with a .220 cap swap instead of the .082 cap.
Inexpensive mod which yields surprising tone results from your existing pickups.
There is a 2 part article from Premier guitar's website.
