I'm trying to decide between the EMG SA single coils, basically the gilmour setup, but in white, not ivory, with a black pickguard over my strat, or the Lace Sensor Red/Silver/Blue combo in my strat. But I don't know which to get. A little help would be nice. Any info, like tone and what not. I just have stock fender pickups in it now, but I don't like the noise it picks up when I play on my peavey valveking head.

Right now I think I'd go for some Fender Hot Noiseless ceramics, mainly because I like the sound and I don't have anything like that in my arsenal!

I can only comment on the lace sensors. I have the red,red/gold/blue. The reds are duallys set up as a humbucker. I play blues, classic rock, and 60's rock pretty much exclusively. The red is a good bridge pickup. Its not my favorite though. I wouldn't call it a humbucker sound, but its similar. Red and Gold sound great together. The gold is the same that was in the older EC model and is still in the Buddy Guy signature strat- probably my favorite lace pickup so far, but the light blue and burgundy are growing on me. I don't like the blue at all, its very muddy. No matter how much I play with the tone knob or the amp settings I don't like it. I have played a strat with the silver in the bridge. It has a higher output like the blue but sounded much better to my ears. The lace pu's are very quiet compared to my other strat with standard Fender pu's (as far as the noise is concerned).

Check the reviews out here. Take note of what type of music the reviewer plays and the position of the pickup.

You can also do a google search for videos of the pu's. 96% will be on you tube. If you like blues, check on frets99 video on you tube with a strat (floyd rose bridge) and gold lace sensors. He mentions he wired the middle bridge open. I'm not sure what he means by that, but I am very curious about it.

heres the link: (note video will start auto when you click here, so you might not want to do it at work :) )

Symore Duncan Lipstick pickups are the only way to go. But it really depends on your playing style.

Check this site for a wide range of pups. www.kinman.com I have a Custom made Strat with '68 stock 2182's but these look really good. Only problem is, I haven't decided on which set up I like best........J

My buddy lives for Pink Floyd and Gilmore is his favorite guitar player. He has a red USA strat with emg's in it and it sounds bitchin. But, he also has a lot of the same gear Dave uses.
