I had two of them they were nice but the necks were to fat for me. When they first came out the necks were real thick and then they started making thiner. If you wanted one to play I would go the cheap way and buy a strat plus. I read some where that the strat plus prototype was therefore put together with Jeff beck in mind, hence its yellow finish christened Graffiti Yellow. But Beck (temporarily) turned down Fender's proposal and the first Stratocaster with Sensors came out as the STRAT PLUS

They changed the neck profile in 2001 on the standard guitars to make it slightly more palatable. It became a regular C-shape, as I recall... the Custom Shop version kept the U-shaped '50s style neck.

I'd love one. Wicked guitars. Saw Jeff play live this summer and I can confirm he was using a selection of them... lovely!

Yes the original model had a huge neck and Jeff didn't like it. Now it's been modified but i'm not quite sure exactly what size of neck is on it now. Did the very first model not also have humbucker in the bridge position? i seem to remember that.

Im lookin at the production model. It is same price as a deluxe. Basically its a deluxe with 3 hot stack single coils and same neck profile as modern fenders.

The only thing wrong with the Jeff Beck Strat, is that I don't have one.. :(

The neck on the post-2001 JB Strats has a slender C profile. Pre-2001 versions had a dual Gold Lace Sensor in the bridge position with a special push-push button to split the humbucker.

Recently Jeff brought back his preference for the huge baseball bat necks.

As for the pickups on his guitars, the question remains a mystery. Some believe the pickups are Suhr-designed stacked humbuckers while others claim he uses Samarium Cobalts causing a controversy about the exact specs of his axes.
