Fender recently introduced the Modern Player series of guitars and basses.

All these beauties are listed on the products page, however the Strat is missing!

No pictures, no specs sheet, nothing! Why?

There is no strat to the best of my knowledge. With all of the other strat variations available is it necessary?

You must be referring to the Special Run Player Strat (which appears to be a Guitar Center Exclusive) featuring two Vintage Noisless pickups (neck and mid), an Atomic humbucker (birdge), and a 25db mid-range boost.

Yep, there's a related discussion in the Telecaster forum about a Tele with two Vintage Noiseless pickups and the Clapton circuit. Tough luck I searched for pictures at Guitar Center's website and found nothing. I also googled for the term "Special Run Player"; the query returned no results.

Do you've pictures of the Special Run Player Strat? I guess the guitar came also with an licensed Floyd Rose locking tremolo and a maple neck with 21 jumbo frets.

I guess Fender used the Clapton circuit with a full-sized humbucker for the first time since the birth of the Richie Sambora signature models two decades ago.

I got this from the FDP Fender Forum. Look on page 8/9. The guitar has a standard 6-screw trem.

On Oct 3rd, a Chinese member of this forum, dinostudio, posted the following pictures of what appear to be SSS Strats from the new Fender Modern Player Series. The thread was deleted (perhaps because Super Kid reported it as spam), but I found the cache of it by searching yahoo.

There was this black one:

And this white one:

The original (lost) thread.

Looks like a HSS Modern Player Strat has recently appear on Guitar Center's and MF websites. In stock and available in Silverburst and Olympic White with rosewood fretboard for $399.

Funny, no mention of it on Fender's website however.

The specs you've posted is for the SSS version.

The guitar pictured above is an HSS model, so the bridge pickup is a Modern Player humbucker.

I think the Modern Player HSS Strat is also available as a Factory Special Run featuring a Passing Lane button.

I don't think this guitar is fake. It has all the specs described on the features sheet, except for the addition of a second string tree for the A and D strings.

Fender never puts up pages on the special run guitars since they are normally one run and done (anywhere from 50 to 500 units); they only put up web pages for the models that stay in regular production.

I recognized the brick wall background; the guitar you're looking at is from one of the larger Fender dealers around. Logically I don't think they would jeopardize their contract with Fender over putting an inexpensive fake Strat up on their website next to real models (including a large selection of CS guitars).

I might just get one then

Thank you guys, pictures are to be expected (I hope).

Ta-ta for now ! :)

Edit : I just ordered it, I should receive it on Tuesday :D

Another edit : the store in which I've ordered it hasn't got them in stock anymore, I'm disappointed. :|

Edit n°3 : I'll get one tomorrow ;)
