Good day All:
I recently had the opportunity to purchase a Sambora Paisley Strat, MIJ 1996. While it is all original, I had a few questions that perhaps either a Fender employee or a die-hard Fender fan would know. What was the original suggested retail price of the guitar in 1996/1997, and what were the dealers actually selling them for (because of the limited run, I would think close to the SRP). Was the Made in Japan run actually limited to 200 total? Were the guitars available world-wide (most of the ones that do pop up for sale are outside the US)? Mine came in a Fender black tolex case, which I am pretty sure is the original, but any insight is welcome (I thought I read once they were in a tweed case, but I may be mistaken). Finally, the only thing that came with mine was the trem bar, of course, and a black Fender strap with strap locks. Did the guitar originally come with a locking strap (if not, this is the only mod on mine that I can easily change back to non-locking straps).
Many, many thanks!!!!!

I think when they came out they were $1369.00 MSR I heard 200 were made but I also heard more than that. They are for sale mostly from out US beacuse I think they can afford it and they will pay the high asking price because they have a hard time getting stuff and also I have seen fake ones out their too you really need to know what to look for when buying. They are nice guitars I wish I had one

you're a lucky man! this is on my bucket list of guitars to own and they have become REALLY expensive (a couple of thousand pounds here in the UK).

Don't I know it, and thank you! I've been searching for a while and had the good fortune to find this one. I plan to baby it and protect it, and not bring it out in the wild too much (of course, I'll probably trip with it in my own house, but let's hope not!). I have heard a few of the custom made in USA directly for Richie are now going close to $10k (I had a call in to rockstarguitars who said there was one sold a few years ago for $7k and the guy may be willing to sell, but that was too much for my pay scale), but being used on tour, etc., I am sure have much more wear. I suppose it's all what you're looking for. I know that one has the boost circuit, which would be nice, but I rather just use a pedal for the few times I need a volume increase, and save a few thousand :-).

The USA Black Paisleys were built by Todd Krause and Mark Kendrick.
