Hi all,
I'm pretty new to the Fender forum.
I am after a bit of information on a 1972 Stratocaster I just bought.

The bidge pickup has a dark grey bottom with the number 774516 on it.
The middle pickup has a light grey bottom and the number 9190 and the neck has a black bottom with no number.

I have searched the net for information on dating them but haven't been able to 100% date them

Just wondering if anyone can help me?
I am not sure how to attach pics to the post but once I work it out I will add them.
Cheers
Lee

Odds are the neck pickup is a replacement as Fender with to All Grey bottom pickups in the mid 60s

Hi epiphoney,

To post pictures, they must be uploaded to a publicly accessible site such as PhotoBucket. Once uploaded, each pic will have an "IMG" code that you can copy and paste into your post here. Then when you click "Preview" or "Submit", your pic will be visible.

The best info on those pickup date codes is found at

http://www.ggjaguar.com/neckcode2.htm

As you'll read, there's some ambiguity, as the code changed.

One interpretation would be: 9190 = 19th week of 1970
774516 = 45th week of 1971, day 6.
