I'm thinking of getting a Fender with the Floyd Rose system. What should I get?

I think you are pretty limited if you buy a new one. Like the Standard HSS with locking tremolo. I will say this- whatever you buy make sure it is a "Floyd Rose" bridge it should say just that on the top of the bridge. I have the FRII and I am about to replace it with the original. The Floyd Rose II and other "liscenced by" floating bridges don't compare in quality. They are a bit more temper mental and harder to work with but they are awesome when they are set up right. That has been my experience for what its worth.

A properly set-up Amer Standard 2 pt trem will work just fine for normal trem usage. If you want to dive bomb your heart out, get the "Original Floyd Rose tremelo" The copies just don't cut it. I have a Strat with an older(1980's) original Floyd, and it works nicely. It has Made in Germany stamped on the underside of the unit. I beleive it was made by Schaller. It is much nicer than the "Licensed by" units that are now sold. Always get the good stuff, you will never be sorry.
