i love the MIM standards, i think they're a fantastic value for the money. but they come in the most ho-hum colors availible. where's the graphitti yellows? the candy greens? or even a red that looks red, not wine. would it really add that much to production cost to add some more color? are the best colors reserved only for those who are in the $700-$1000 market? what would happen if they offered surf green and daphne blue on standards? would people stop buying the 50's series? an extra $300 is alot to spend to get the color you like, if your already satisfied with the qaulity of a standard.

any thoughts??

The automotive paint that guitar manufacturers use, believe it or not, is very expensive these days... That is why some of the "premi" colors are reserved for better models.

i certainly would'nt want to mess with the price point. i'm divorced with 3 kids, and without the MIM standards i'd only dream of owning a fender. it's just hard to belive that a gallon of graphitti yellow would cost that much more than a gallon of olympic white.

Well I'll bet the demand just isn't that high for those colors. Standards come in a lot of colors really, chrome red (which does look red), midnight wine, electron blue, arctic white, brown sunburst, (I do wish they'd anclude 3 color sunburst), and black. So yeah they covered it besides a green, maybe natural would work. Grafiti yellow would do well though, they oughta try it for like a year or so and see how it goes.

By the way, sorry to hear about your situation, that kinda thing happens way to often nowadays. :(

thank you for your kind thoughts, but dont worry. divorce was years ago, she's re-married, and we get along better now than we did when we were together. lol. i get my kids often and taught my older son guitar, his brother plays drums. we play at the local coffee houses' open mic night sometimes. i have video of it on myspace. send me an add and i'd be happy to show you.
