I want to upgrade my strat with lace sensors and a switch to enable the neck pickup so that I can have all 3 pickups on at the same time but I have some questions.

1) will this switch work for what I want? If not could you point out one that would? http://www.amazon.com/DiMarzio-2-Position-DPDT-Mini-Switch/dp/B003O4GRMY/ref=sr_1_2?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1318547144&sr=1-2

2) I wouldn't know how to wire it in so could someone give me a wiring diagram that someone who is clueless would be able to figure out?

3) Any tips for soldering? I have never soldered before so I could use some pointers. I realize that some of you will say to just take it in to a professional so I don't mess it up, but I want to learn how to do it myself so.

Thanks in advance for the help

Sounds like you want it wired like the Gilmour Black Strat. If so have you checked out gilmourish.com ? I seem to remember seeing what you need there. Good luck!

Yes I want the Gilmour switch, thought the pickups I will be using will be lace sensors.I checked gilmourish.com but they have neither a wiring diagram nor do they say what kind of switch is used.

Yes that helps, now I just need to find an SPDT switch because the one I had found is a DPDT. Thanks for your help

With the right tools soldering is easy. Get an adjustable iron with sponge, avoid flux core wire(buy flux and normal soldering wire), and tin all stripped ends before hooking everything up. Use a solvent to clean all terminals before you begin. Isopropyl Alcohol works for me. There should be plenty of places on the internet to get some pointers before getting started, and the size of wire and number of components in a strat make it a good project for a beginner.

For your modification, vice "upgrade", a DPDT switch will work equally well in lieu of a SPDT.

Hey Martian: "upgrade"...

Don't worry, pink-floyd-fan, it's just a little Forum in joke. Perfectly friendly.

I like your choice of Lace Sensors for this task. Not everyone's cup of tea - but I think they're great for this sound.

Good luck - C

Hey guys, I've taken the diagram found on lace's website and added a DPDT switch and attached the 2 wires needed. I would prefer using a DPDT switch as it is easier for me to find and cheaper so if it is not the same as an SPDT switch could somebody tell me what to do? Also if I could get an answer as soon as possible that would be great so that I know whether I can buy everything together or not.

Anyways here is what I have.

No issues with Lace Sensors on this side of the aisle, but why not the EMG SA's employing all the usual suspects?

I'd rather not have active electronics, maybe some other time.

I have a dilemma I was about to pull the trigger on a red/silver/blue pack but decided to take a look at the golds and hot golds and now can't make up my mind. What do you guys think would sound best for some classic rock to metal even thought I don't usually play metal. I'm sure I want the pickups to be lace sensors.

Thanks for your input.
