Hi guys,

I can't afford a DG Strat...so I decided to put a 1 ply black guard on my 93 American Standard. Here's a pic. What do you think?

thanks! I don't post very often. I need to start though! I'm not sure where to cut the trem arm so I haven't done it yet. The bridge of course is not going to be the same because the bridge on the the 93 is a two point bridge and not a 6 screw one. The pickups in it are very good. Just trying to get the height adjusted right again. I have a neck from my Red Powerhouse Strat on it right now. 1. Because it has the vintage tuners and logo on it. 2. Because the original neck was really starting to chip. So, I've switched them out as I don't play the Powerhouse Strat as much.

Yeah, I just noticed that you've been a member for about 4 years!! Jump in and post every once in a while my friend. Keep working on your strat and get it just how you want it. Good luck!!

Here is a link to a short trem arm for $15.00, if you just want the measurements you can get them here too!

Hi, here is a link to a website which is selling a fully pre-wired pickguard assembly which is identical to the one which is found on the Fender David Gilmour Signature Strat.

That's pretty awesome! I really like the pups in My American Standard. It might be cool to add the toggle switch. Just trying to go for the looks. I have a digitech RP 150 that I can get close to his sound. I don't play a lot of Floyd, but I do like his sound.

If you are interested in adding the toggle switch to your pickguard like David Gilmour's Strat it is a SPST mini toggle switch which is an on/off mini toggle switch used for the front pickup. He has his pickguard routed out for his mini toggle switch, which is not really necessary but looks much nicer. It also sits much lower on the pickguard so that you do not unintentionally switch it while playing your guitar. It might be a little tricky to route into your pickguard as well. Here is another link which you might find interesting, it is a David Gilmour Strat project>

These are the pickups which the David Gilmour Signature Strat comes equipped with:

Bridge: Seymour Duncan SSL-5 Custom Staggered pickup.
Middle: Fender Custom Shop ’69 pickup.
Neck: Fender Custom Shop Fat ‘50s pickup.

The only thing is that each of these pickups are only available in sets of three from Fender, which was why I purchased the pre-wired pickguard assy that I had mentioned in my earlier post.

The SSL-1 was the bridge pickup Duncan sent DG years ago {...in the The Black Strat....by Phil Taylor] Apparently David preferred the SSL-5 for the project. Its a stormer, for sure. Hopkins runs his through a '57 Twin RI so you can imagine the affection his neighbors bear for him. I run mine through an old 100W Line6 AX2 Stereo modeling amp which has a Gilmour preset. Just like Ralph Kramden, my wife threatens to send me to the dark side of the moon when I crank that thing.
