Actually the little hole in the neck plate is for the micro-tilt which acts like a neck shim to adjust the neck angle, not the truss rod. I haven't seen a production Clapton that didn't have the truss rod access at the neck (that being said I haven't seen one of the original 21-fret prototypes with the switch for the MDX in person, just in an old ad in a magazine).

Ah...thanks for the clarification. I guess I misinterpreted a schematic I saw somewhere recently.

You know, I've never had to use the either the micro-tilt or the bi-flex on any Fender I've owned that had them; I'm not sure how you access the bi-flex part. The normal front/back bow is adjusted through the small opening the headstock plug - at least that's how it was on the modern-style Fenders I've owned over the years.
