I am from Denmark, so please forgive my poor english.
In 1982 I bought my first Brand new Stratocaster.
I sold it in 1995.
I have in the mean time regret it!!
Now I want to find it, and buy it back.
I still have the serial number.
Is there anyone that have an ide of what I shouldt do???
Hope you can help me.

Good luck; about the best you can do in this situation is post both the serial number and a photo - assuming you have one you can scan - on various internet boards that have classified advertising sections stating you want to buy back your old guitar. It's been gone a long time so it really is a shot in the dark to try to find it now.

To whom did you sell the guitar? It´s 16 years ago but if you sold it in Europe chances are great it is still here.
If you sold it to a guitar store maybe they know the owner (and he/she) still has it.
Otherwise, save 2000€(maybe cheaper if you´re lucky) and buy another Smith Stratocaster.
I played just 3 different ones but every Smith was really great.

Cheers,
Robin

It'll be hard tracking it down, that's for sure. I've tried a few times to track down guitars I've sold, including the late sixties 335 I sold due to losing my job and needing rent money. Kick myself thoroughly for that one on a regular basis!

You could rely on pure luck, it worked for me - sold a lovely Strat Plus 15 years ago, always regretted it and wished I had it back, as that guitar and I shared a lot of memories together playing pretty much all of my first bigger gigs.

Walked into a music store a few weeks ago, and saw a very familiar sunburst Plus sat on the wall! Double checked the serial number from an old photo I dragged out of an album at home, and sure enough, it was my old one! Ended up paying over the odds for it, but I didn't care. It's now my main guitar again, and it'll be staying with me for a very, very long time.

hi John C

Which to serial numbers do you mean?
I only know the one on the headstock.

Hi viperap

Good luck in your search, i wish id never sold my first fender, an 82 "smith" strat too.

As to both serial numbers thats just the way English is written, theres just one serial number. "Both" referred to the number and a photo.

Yes, that's what I was referring to - the number on the headstock. That would be the only way to identify your guitar versus another 1982 Strat in the same color.

If you don't have a photo at least you could post a description that includes the body color, the pickguard color, and whether it had a maple or a rosewood fingerboard.

As I say it's a long shot; I've got a couple of guitars I sold that I wouldn't mind having back, but it is tough to turn them back up unless you kept up with the person who bought it and they still have it.

Hi again

The body has a nice warm creme white, almost vintage white but not quite as yellow.
The pickguard is 3 layer white/black/white.
And the fingerboard is rosewood.
