took a look under the pick plate today and noticed what looks like corrosion (grey/ white flaky stuff) on my lace sensor pickups. I cant seem to scrape it off, and some of it is hard to reach. Do you think this will effect the sound? Any ideas on removing it or do I need to replace the pickups? Also is the
bare "wire" along the bottom that is saudered at two points suposed to be there? Just seems out of place, but I don't have another lace sensor to compare it to.

Don't tell me you use gray pickups and have been playing ten hours per day for the last twenty years!!!!!! LOL

Very interesting close up shots of the underside of Lace Sensors. I would not touch the lead soldered on the bottom of the pickups... I'm sure it is a critical connection for the internal coils.

For the life of me, I can't imagine what the gray dust is - perhaps old paint or primer that has flaked away over the years.

I can't imagine that you should need to change the pickups.

I posted this on another site, and talked to a "tech" at a local guitar shop. The consensus seems to be that it is probably some kind of flaking off the wax potting. I'm going to just keep pickin' and not worry about it. I played the light blue and burgundy lace pickups over the weekend. Now I can't decide between them and the gold lace, which I like better in the bridge. LOL
