Three broken strings in one day???

I haven't broken three strings in the last three decades!

(hint: keep a few spare string sets on hand for such contingencies)

Wow, my Strats would need a whole new setup, including re-slotting the nut, neck relief, trem setup and action setup to accomodate that kind of fence wire.

But it'd be worth it for the tone.

Feeling in the fingertips is over rated anyway

When I read the title of this thread, I thought that someone was going to cut off their fingertips to try to get Iommi's sound.

How is it that the three broke? You must be doing some serious yanking on them. Some sort of theatrical stunt perhaps? :?:

A guitarist I used to work with did a stunt at the end of every later gig he played. He would rip the strings off his guitar at the end of the last song.

Last time I saw him, he had 3 permanantly curled fingers on his picking hand and had given up playing. Apparently one night he got the stunt wrong and severed the tendons in his hand

The last string I broke was the 8 gauge beside the regular G on an electric 12-string. And that was a tuning issue, not a playing issue. Other than that, I seriously cannot remember the last time I broke even one string. Ironically, I always carry a couple of extra sets in the guitar case(s).

I had serious problems with the b string on my Squier not too long ago. I broke it three times in under two weeks after having never broken a string in years. I ended up having to replace the saddle, and went ahead and upgraded the whole set.

Yesterday I popped the high e on my Highway One, I'm really hoping it's not the same sort of recurring problem.
