OK so flatted down with 1200 wet and dry and a bar of soap. I had to go and buy a bar of soap because it's all pump dispensers nowadays.

It takes a while because you have to do the flatting, wash and allow to dry and then there is always a pesky shiny bit staring at me. Repeat and another shiny part - until you are done.

3 more wet coats for the finish.

Just got the first coat on when 4 mossies started to circle the guitar. I have had this before where they land on the wet paint. Not content with this they then drag themselves through the finish leaving a herringbone trail followed by legs as they fall off one by one. Luckily the acetone got them drunk (because the weren't waring any protective masks) and I was able to squish them in mid flight, all four.

What are you gonna do about the hum you'll get with the 25d
And the bare knuckles slow hand? Considering the fact that
there not noiseless like the vintage.

This from the Bareknuckle website:

"The mid and neck single coil are wound specially to hum-cancel in positions 2&4 so that a 5 way switch offers the following options:
Position 1 bridge humbucker
Position 2 bridge slug coil and middle single coil in parallel (hum-cancelling)
Position 3 middle single coil
Position 4 middle and neck in parallel (hum-cancelling)
Position 5 neck single coil"

The idea of the tarps is to
a. Stop draughts that would cause blooming to the finish
ii. Stop crp from falling down from above
5c. Stop the overspray from covering the kit in the garage.

Looking at the job this morning - we have shine :D

And so to the neck.
I gave it 3 coats of poly, I want to be able to hang this guitar up without fuss.

Pulling the tuner ferrules in.

The staggered tuners. I went for an artistic depth of field, DOH!

And the neck on, haning out with some of her stablemates.

That's a good looking guitar! I love the colour, and how the humbucker picks up on the neck colour. Can you make me one? :D

That looks great my friend... love the subtle p/g mod adding the fourth knob. I've also been using that idea of yours soldering a little connector to the pot for a "ground wire" central... with a busy wiring scheme it works awesome!

Again, awesome looking guitar and I'm looking forward to hearing her in action.
Cheers, JG

Thanks guys. it has taken a while but now it s all worth it.

I found time to set up the string height at the bridge yesterday, nut files out next.

Not sure about the control knob colors, I'm sure I must have some ivory knobs somewhere amongst all this tat! it has been two and a half years since I started this project

The earth lug is great when you have a lot of earths to solder together.
