Thanks for your time Andy. Yeah the Iphone is a tad small for stuff like this, still a bleeding miracle though!

I would love to claim credit for the switching ideas however I based it on the diagram below.

Bareknuckle insist I use 500k pots for the volume and tone so what about the pre amp control pot, is that 500k as well?

I use Adobe Illustrator to do my diagrams, it helps me think and I can use layers to build up the drawing. I know some of the wires are different thicknesses but I was hoping for at least a high 60s for my diagram :D

Hi Shaky,

Sorry for the late reply but I'm struggling to find time for the forum at the moment.

Your 5 ways switch still has an issue! But then BK have the 5 way switch casing on the wrong side which doesn't help.

Wire your 5 way like this....

Image

Regarding your pot values, ignore BK's recommended values and use the 50k pot that came with the Clapton Kit for the Master Volume and the 250k for Mid-boost pot.

Best of luck!

Andy

Man, for some reason I stopped getting notifications about posts on this thread. Had some catching up to do. Looking good. I have installed the mid-boost several time but never the Piezo. It will be interesting to see how they would being wired sided by side like this. The guitar looks great BTW!

Thanks Andy

I have been to New York on business (wandering around guitar shops) so have only just picked this up. No wireless in the hotel! I can get on with wiring now.

Xhefri, thanks and keep watching this space :D

Your welcome, but don't wire anything up just yet!

On closer inspection there is an issue with the tone control on your diagram. Take a peek at how the tone pots is wired below...

...Thats how you want yours mate!

Also on my 5 way diagram the terminal labled VOL is incorrect and should read TONE POT and Mid Boost PCB. My bad for rushing a post!

I should have a bit of time this weekend and would be more than happy to post a full diagram should you need it (as I'm crap at explaining this sort of thing).

Cheers!

Andy

My bit of coast is historically the best place to have a deck chair fight!

Hi Andy

It's the same thing I think. If you look at the diagram the two wires meet on the switch

Image

Whereas on my actual Clapton strat the wires meet on the tone pot.

The other thing is that the wire to the Volume pot comes from the PCB, the green connection.

I did have the middle and neck connections the wrong way around.

Re deck chair scrap - Summers just aren't like they used to be any more

Howdy Shaky!

Sorry I haven't got back with a diagram. I've had a few issues with my PC and have been using the Mac this week. Can't be done with the Mac paint program...

Anyway your diagram looks much better than mine would! :D

I see you have added the missing cap to your Tone pot, but your five way needs to be turned 180 degrees. If you wire it up as you have it now your switching positions will be backwards!

Sort that and I reckon your in business. Best of luck!

Andy

Update:

So having chased the renault and got the paint code I have the celly ready to go. Turned the garage into a spray booth, mixed the paint etc. Gave the guitar body a rub with some scotchbrite and then a wipe with some thinners to remove the dust. Disaster, the thinner removed the topcoat. Now I now that I can clean cellulose surface with celly thinners so what is this on my highway one finish?

Presumably cellulose underneath then poly on top :(

Satin nitrocellulose laquer finish on the HW1 as I'm sure you at this point already know Shaky, just popping in to commiserate, hope you get it sorted

So now the body is rubbed down to the cellulose, I could smell it as I used the wet and dry.

Next decision:

1. Spray colour straight on, allow to dry and rub down again for top coats.

2. Prime allow to dry rub down and then top coats.

Of course it might pickle and need stipping to bare wood by I'll risk that.

Coat of semi matt clear and claim it's a relic.
