Hi guys, I just got a new MIM Players Strat with the push button to get different pup's on and off (which I've talked about in other threads). I'm wanting to re-wire it so that I can control the tone on the bridge pup. As it comes from the factory there is no tone control hooked up to the bridge pup.

It has 2 tone pots and they are wired as normal meaning the 1st pot controls the neck pup which I like and the 2nd pot controls the tone of the middle pup which I've never found a use for.

So I'm guessing the easiest and fastest way to fix this is to un-solder the 2nd tone pot from the middle pup and solder it to the bridge pup,

My main reason for the question is I've never owner a Strat with this push button on it. So will there be any considerations in my re-wiring because of the push button switch? Thanks

On the five way switch on the side where the tones are wired in, it just takes a little jumper wire from the bridge pickup tab to the tab of the desirered tone control tab. Download the wiring diagram for a modern american standard strat.
It does have a 5 way correct? If not look on the switch where the tone control wires in for middle pickup and atatch another wire there and jumper it to same place on that switch for bridge.

Hi stratguy2254,

If you have the "Deluxe Player Strat", then the tone controls are soldered to the same side of the pup selector switch as the pups are wired. So, you are correct, simply move the one tone pot wire from the selector switch connection for the mid pup, to the connection for the bridge pup. Connections at the pup selector switch of course. You can easily see where each pup connects, but here is the diagram anyway.

If you have another type of "Player" Strat, it is probably different than the above.

Thanks guys, you both have given me a good insight to what I need to do and it looks like a standard tone knob re-wire job. I was just afraid that the push button switch might make a difference. Thanks for all the help everyone here has been very nice and helpful to me and I sure appreciate it!!
