On the other side....
Guitar doesn't look bad at all....It looks realy custom as compared
to other guitars especialy Fenders.....If it plays and feels ok
i wouldnt worry about it so much...For the price you paid you could
afford lower end MIM Fenders od Korean Ibanez anyway....
This way at least it looks different then other and i bet you money
you will always have questions from anxious people.....

Good luck

I'd still like to get my hands on a MIC Starcaster.

Some of the pictures on payless' site look real close--it is possible they used the real thing for some of those pictures, then they send you the fake.

Stuff like that needs to be policed, reported, stopped, punished, etc.

People should be getting what they think they're getting.

Al DiMeola has a good point about buying from authorized dealers--but then that also hurts in terms those who can't afford the higher priced stuff and look for it used.

I don't know about the other models, but the payless site doesn't have pics of the real Jaguar Cars Custom model. With only 25 made they are probably too costly for the Chinese company to get one to copy exactly. Some pics of their copy on the site have 10 pickguard screws and some have 11, so they are not all of the same guitar, and they show a very red looking headstock.

I've gotten no reply to several emails to eBay seller 813valorie who sold me this one as "a Project guitar that was put together with parts and turned out really cool....Guess you could call it a Fender Jaguar Strat." so I may report it to eBay. I expect I won't get satisfaction, though, so I may have to chauk it up to a bad investment and use the neck to build a decent guitar with genuine Fender parts for the rest. I have a '68 reissue body to refinish as a start.

I was referring to other models.

There are some disreputable dealers who do post pictures of the real thing, but they sell the fakes.

It is surprising that they don't all do that.

The warning is important. There are many eBay warnings like this one

I agree they should get what they bought, instead of a fake. I feel really sorry for the people who bought fake guitars. But again like KHE3 said, if it doesn't look bad and it doesn't play too bad, and for the price it might not be too bad.

One of my favorite lines on those auctions is we have a direct connection with the dealer that is why we can sell them so cheap. If it is in China that should be a major tip off. but it is a cool looking guitar

For anyone that's interested, here's some more pics of the real Jaguar Strat. That's $30,000 they're asking for that one!

http://www.nevadamusic.co.uk/Guitars/El ... p5744.aspx (Click on the pix for enlargements.)

So happens my wife and I drive a Jag in British Racing Green, so I'm trying to suggest to her we should have the matching guitar. She's not certain about it, but she certainly likes the bling hardware...

Yeah, in my dreams...

Wow! This brings back a few painful memories of 813valorie and the Chinese Fake he sold me back in 2008: I see he is still selling guitars on ebay with 6 listed currently. be very careful if you deal with this person.
Back in 2008 his email was Daleo123W@aol.com, and his last responses to me were, "I'm sorry but your being decieved about those guitars on the website ...this one is different." and
"This is already in the hands of Paypal and the credit card company now and has been for several months. Let it take it's course....You have already filed a charge back and had the money tied up in a claim for months now.....I don't have the money or the guitar."
The outcome for me, after months and months of calling Capital One Customer service and getting folks in Bombay India with names like "Champ" and "Romeo" and mailing them multiple copies documenting the Chinese fakes and letters from Fender verifying this one as a fake, was that Cap One would no longer honor their fraudulent purchase clause unless the seller "agreed that he had cheated you." Like that was going to happen.
For an update on the guitar itself, I purchased a 1968 reissue Strat body to use with the counterfeit Chinese neck and a Squire neck to mount on the counterfeit Chinese body, but then discovered that the Chinese neck is thicker than a Fender neck where it fits in the pocket and I didn't want to risk ruining the Fender body or milling down the neck, so it still has the Chinese neck and body but now has an OEM Fender pickguard with Fender electrics and vintage noiseless pickups and a Fender gold tremolo assembly. I also ordered a custom neck plate with a growler engraved on it. I'd hate to tell my wife what I have in it now beyond the original $400 scam, but it does play pretty well and doesn't hum to high heaven like it did with the cheap Chinese pickups. Anyone need a 68 reissue body, a Squire neck with black headstock, or a loaded Chinese 10 screw pickguard?
Oh yes, The web site for the Chinese fakes made in Beijing, paylessguitars.com, now has no pictures of its products, offers only to "build your own custom guitar" and has this disclaimer - "We respect every guitar company in the world and we respect their registered trademarks and intellectual property , so we never commit any acts of infringement of copyright and of other rights and interests related to copyright . " What do you want to bet that if I sent them pictures of my guitar, they could and would make another just like it, Fender logos and all. Any bets on whether 813valorie is still selling their products on eBay? :?:
BTW, if you go to tradetang.com there hundreds of Epiphone, Gibson, Ibanez, and "Fenders" guitars offered for for sale with descriptions in broken English and photos that show only the backs of head stocks; probably the same Chinese counterfeiters under a different name.

I can see the attraction of Ebay and other internet trading organisations, but I'd never shop there myself.

It might cost a few bob more, but you can't beat holding an instrument in your hands before buying it from a recognised agent/ dealer.

I'm sorry you were scammed..

I just searched this site for "Jaguar Guitar" and found many "dealers" selling the model I was scammed on by ebay seller 813valorie, as well as knockoff Fender Jaguar Jazzmasters; Interesting that there was a black Jazzmaster model being sold by about a dozen different "dealers" which had a clear picture of the back of the headstock with a serial number, and every dealer was selling a guitar with exactly the same serial number.

I think Fender should be calling up Obama and telling him to stop selling our country to the Chinese while they are knocking off American products and costing us American jobs.

I had the chance to play a fake Les Paul. Had all the "made in USA" stickers on it. Including "Made in USA" stickers on the "EMG" pick ups. It was actually nice to play, and sounded good, for 10% the cost of the real thing. I don't condone counterfitting, but still, great guitar for the money.

You gotta be careful, some of these fakes feel and sound as good as the real thing, I failed a duct tape test on a Slash LP. Duct tape was put across the headstock to hide the fake's logo. I played them both and guessed the wrong guitar as the real deal. Felt smooth, sounded crisp, great action, just a fantastic Les Paul. For about $4400 less than the real thing's MSRP.
