I'm starting to work on my next build and I'm looking for some of your guy's professional advice. The body is a nice two piece western red cedar 1/4 sawn with very straight grain and I'm trying to figure out how I would like to stain the body. Anyone have any good ideas or experience for doing this? Does anyone know if oil-based or water-based stain would be more appropriate? I was hoping to stain the body to bring out the nice grain and then coat the body with a clear nitro finish. Any experience, pointers, ideas, etc. would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! And as always, I'll post plenty of pictures of the build!

If you're interested in the outcome of some different finishing oils, check out this thread:

Go forward from where I put you, he puts 2 or 3 types to the test so it you can see some examples over time.

Hope that helps.

Dan
