I have to agree with guitar_hurricane - an Epi Les Paul IS a great guitar. I have the Epi Les Paul Classic, Epi Dot Studio w/Bigsby and a Strat and I wouldn't give up any of them. It is possible to own and love more than one guitar ( like kids ! )

Good luck in your quest .

Have you thought about maybe owning both, you could get an epiphone les paul (which is pretty darn good) and something like a mid-priced strat. You could have the best of both worlds for the price of a gibson or high dollar strat. Evidently your budget doesn't matter, being you were thinking about buying a gibson in the first place, hehe.

i agree but with one very clear personal perception. I played Gibsons for 5 or so years, then Strats, 10 or so years, (mostly one custom made, heavily modded), which gave me the best of the Strat and the Gibson. And then i bought an Epi LP and found that I had the middle between the two. I could play either the Strat or the Epi for a "one guitar" stage gig....
