I want to buy a new Yngwie strat and I have been researching the new vs the older ones and i'm wondering why Fender hasn't resolved the issue of the E string slipping off of the neck.I know I can change the bridge out to fix the problem but why should I.Do all of the 2011s have the same problem.

Waste of money. Artist models are over priced.

Hi Wig.
Artist models may have specific features you could very much dislike.

But we don´t know if your preference is for a specific neck, or pickups.
I love a C shape and 6105 frets with a 9.5 radius. Give me thinner frets and
I will be miserable.
I don´t know what the best Strat for the money is.
Play as many as you can! Choosing a Strat is a wonderful experience.
Check out Greg´s guitars on utube to hear some killer instruments. Who knows,
you could end up with a Telecaster! :D

Highway 1s are pretty good for their price.

Nothing bad about Teles, hey? Jimmy Page used one for most of Zeppelin's first album, and I think he used a Tele on the Stairway to Heaven solo in the studio. No twang there!

If you want a scalloped guitar the Malmsteen is the only one made by Fender USA.
Try out the Blackmore (made in Mexico), I liked it better than the Malmsteen.
These are the only models coming with a scalloped fretboard.
The slipping e string is part of the scalloped fretboard, you have to get used to less friction to bend the strings. One or two weeks and the fretboard feels great and it´s feeling better the more you play.
If you don´t like the scalloped fretboard right from the strat, maybe scalloped fretboards aren´t made for you.

Cheers,
Robin

I don't think it's the guitar? I've played scalloped necks my entire guitar playing life - and I find that while it never ever slips with me, otehr players who aren't used to scalloped necks really struggle with it. I play a very neo classical style - as opposed to a more bluesy form - and I've always put it down to that (the high arch in my fingers verses the more bluesy way of holding the guitar) and the lighter touch that you apply to a scalloped neck. It would accord with what Robin and Hobbyist are saying - except that I think it's the player not the guitar. I hand scallop all my own necks :D and I know dozens of scalloped neck players - none of whom have ever had a problem with a slipping e string (might be unique to the YJM model though). I scalloped a USA fender lonestar (with a very deep scallop - so deep I exposed the screw under the dot marking on the 7th (or 5th?) fret!!) and had no slippage problems there (but I also installed a schaller floyd rose, so maybe that had something to do with it(?)

that said - I've never played a Malmsteen sig model but I would never dream of paying that amount of money for a sig guitar.

I can't tell you what kind of underwear is comfortable for you, because our butts are different.

Likewise, I can't tell you what kind of Strat (or any guitar) you would like, because our hands/playing style/finger length/personal taste/etc aren't the same.

If you tell us what you've played before and liked or disliked, we might be able to get you in the ballpark, but we can't say, "Go get X, because it's the one for you..."

If you're interested in the YJM Strat, I assume you're a shredder, but a person can shred on any guitar...

PS--Teles aren't inherently twangy, you can get plenty of other sounds out of those axes.
