HEy there, take a look at this photo and help me identify it. The seller claims it to be a MIM, but I've never seen a model other than the SRV strat like this. The tremolo block is the thin and wimpy zinc block.

My '91 MiM Standard has the SSS routing but unhelpfully not sure if the newer ones have a 'bucker rout by the bridge. Also a bit surprised it isn't shielded a bit with paint and cannot see any of the usual identifying labels/barcodes. Any idea how old it is?

the seller has no idea what the year is. But what I like is the reversed bridge, kinda like the SRV strat. The fact that there is no other identifying mark is a concern. There is a chance that this is a custom-made body or possibly a Dillion SRV tribute. I'm trying to get some more info from them, but nothing yet. They're asking $135, which is about what I'd think a nice solid body would go for, but I need to be sure my Fender parts would fit.

that's what I'm thinking, but the wood looks to be solid and not plywood. That is what's throwing me for a loop. Maybe I should just pass on it, unless the seller wants to come down on the price significantly.

well these sx guitars are solid wood. its random how many pieces the body is though. they never spray shielding inside and have minimal markings. also the clear on them is hard as nails....... I got one a while back to refinish and nothing would strip the paint most mim I have seen have shielding paint in them, but I am not sure if a few weren't. if it is an SX its not a bad body but it’s also not worth more than 50 bucks. the whole guitar is less than 90 and they make great office or car guitars

It looks like a two piece, however the badly matched pieces clearly shown thru the sunburst is a big flaw which eliminates it as a good buy. If indeed it is a chinese copy than even more reason to pass.
You can buy an entire Fender Squier Bullet in sunburst for less, as well as be confident that upgrading Fender parts will be compatible
The two below were complete rebuilds from one Bullet Squier and various other parts for under $250.00....

You get what you pay for, spending $100 to $200 has to be on a quality body which will surely fit Fender necks and parts. Otherwise your cost will dramatically rise as you either try to find aftermarket parts that may or may not fit or you have someone router out or fill in to the required specs..Not worth the expense, you may as well then just buy a body stock and have it routed out to your specs...

If it's a SX body, I would worry about trying to put a Fender neck on it. There could be intonation problems (beyond the fact their neck pockets aren't standard Fender sized).
