Hello guys (and girls), I have a bizarre sounding low E string. I wonder if you have experiment this or know the solution.

When it comes to play it on the 12th fret and higher, it starts to wave in and out of tune. It is really annoying to the player ears and also for the listeners. My guitar tech check it with a strobe tuner and told me that the string has some constant heretic movements when it is played.

The intonation is perfect and I have change the strings 3 times just in case it was a bad string.

Help,
Chris

One of your pickups is too close to the string. When you're bending or fretting the string, it becomes closer to the pickup causing a out of tune warble effect. lower the treble end of your pickups.

The pickups' magnetic flux should be synchronized.

Yes, that is a good point.

I have run all the test suggested here and the only thing that help to correct the problem JUST A LITTLE is that I put some bigger gauge for the string.

So I don't think it is the magnetic field of the pickup to close and I don't think it is a bad string (change them 4 times).

Let me rephrase the problem : the low E string is vibrating in a wave fashion when played alone and it is worse at the 12th fret ( the A string is perfect vibrating at a constant pitch).

You can clearly hear it waving in and out of tune at a 50bpm on the metronome (largo).

I was thinking exchanging the saddle or the nut...

All you suggestions were legitimates but if you have other one, please share.
