This is listed by the Guitar center as an American Standard guitar. It is made in the USA but I have seen an American Standard with the large head stock. How can you be sure what model it really is?

Looks like a Highway 1 HSS Strat to me - in that photo the finish on the body looks matte, not glossy and it appears to have a white or parchment pickguard. It's definitely not an American Standard; the other alternative would be an American Special as it would also have the large headstock and the vintage-style bridge. However, the American Special would have a glossy finish body and a black pickguard.

I just checked the Fender website and they no longer list the Highway 1 HSS version - however, it was available from say 2006 until earlier this year.

Thanks for your reply. I came to the same conclusion. By the way I did the same thing you did. Went to the Fender web site. I just wish Fender would include a model identifier with their guitars.
