Hi,

I've been browsing the forums here for the past few months since buying a Fender Amp, but this is my first time posting.

I've just yesterday bought my first Fender American Standard Stratocaster guitar and I have what may seem a silly question, but I can't find an answer using the forum search.

The guitar came with one of the Fender hard cases and I intend to keep it in there all the time when it's not been used. My question though - is there a "correct" way to stand the case? As in should it be stored flat on the floor, or on the edge with the handle at the top, or even stood on it's smallest side so that the guitar is upright?

Sorry if this seems completely obvious, but I want to take the best care of this guitar that I can and as they say, it's better to ask and look foolish than keep quiet and be foolish.

Personally, I don't think it makes any difference. I've stored cased Fenders stood on their end (with the body closest to the floor), laying flat under a bed, and standing upright on the hinged side. No harm ever befell any of these guitars regardless of how long they sat.

HTH

Thanks for the reply. I know that they must be reasonably durable, but some confirmation is nice to hear.

Arjay's right, as usual. But I don't have room under my bed...

To me, "everyday storage" means a quality stand/rack or a String Swing, not packing it away in the case, taking the strap off, taking the trem off, etc.

If it is going in the case it going there because it is about to be taken somewhere else - or I'm off somewhere I don't have stand or rack.

Also, in the case better be ALL in the case - buttoned up etc. Seen people step into open cases, pick up and try to move unlatched cases, dumping contents on floor.

Yeah, i hang my electrics, the few I keep at the house, straps and all.
Again, i know its not the post, and im beating a dead horse but;

ITS TIME TO GET THE ACOUSTICS OFF THE STANDS, STRING SWINGS, ETC/ GET THEM IN THE CASE, WITH A HUMIDIFIER. Older ones, you may be alright. most of humidity problems happen in the first few years they're new.

Everyday storage for me is hanging on the wall. Cases are for travelling
