So would anyone think the value of a mid-90's MIM Tex-Mex strat be worth more than a standard MIM strat from the same time? I would expect so since its got the first upgraded pickups ever offered in a MIM and has some features not commonly found on MIM Strats. Question is how much of a difference would you think if there was a difference?

I usually see the Tex-mex going for more than the standards in my area. I bought 2 Tex-Mex Strats but they were below what I usually see them go for.

I've seen them sell on ebay for $300-$350.

I have a Tex-Mex Strat (pre JV)

It is posted here: http://www.fender.com/community/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10080&start=720( its the sonic blue one.)

I have been told they are somewhat rare, since they only made them for about 2 years. I think they go for more usually, but I stole this one.

I have seen yours, Jason. Very nice! I used a post with your guitars to help identify mine. At first I thought it was a classic 50's.

When i first got my guitar I posted pics and also asked if anyone know what model it was, so I had to do some research to find out what it was. They're a little rarer for sure. It's been nice to see a few more pop up on here and being able to help identify them.

Has anyone noticed the neck profile is more like a MIA strat? At least at the nut anyway. I had a 2008 Lonstar and a 2007 Roadhouse and neither neck felt as thick at the nut. I played a MIA standard that felt more like the Tex-Mex. Unconfirmed rumor has it, the hardware is MIA, not typical Mexican stuff.

I too have heard that rumor. I bought mine without a trem arm. I found one that fit the American vintage trem and it fit mine. Search for a post entitled "Wiggle Sticks"

I have heard that the necks and other hardware are MIA and the guitars are only assembled in Mexico.

I've heard the same and it was because they used the MIA parts lying around to train the MIM employees how to make the guitars...

I decided to polish the frets on the Tex-Mex being as old and dull looking as they are. Decided to take it apart. Do any of the markings on the neck mean anything?

The mystery continues. Every guitar I've seen with those numbers have been very nice instruments.
