Wanting to see if anyone out there can help out.

I have a late seventies Strat... got it from a friend who's husband passed and he bought it new. Everything about it leads to late seventies... original case with correct logo, big headstock (pat pend on it, no serial number), three layer pick guard and neck stamp in green 0903-2763 (strat,maple,27th week,76,wednesday).

The odd thing is a three hole neck plate with 800089 serial number with no "F" on it (every neck plate i've seen in this era has a F).

Fender guide says seventies go up to 750000 on neck plate and then the serial numbers go to the headstock.

Anybody know about blank neck plates with serial numbers going past 750000?

Factory error?

That does sound odd.

Can you show us a picture?

Japanese copies at the time did not have the F on them ... perhaps the neck is the only thing Fender on the guitar ... just sayin' ...
