I'm doing noiseless with a mint green guard. Either maple or rose. I'm not sure at this point. It has quite a few scars though. There was bondo in the horns. I chipped it out though.

That will look nice! Looking forward to see how it progresses.

Have you tried the Noiseless pickups out? Personally didn't enjoy the ones I had. What kind of sound are you going for?

Maple or rosewood... what a sod of a decision. depends which neck you can get hold of really. Anything you had in mind? There's loads on eBay.

Seller changed his mind about the noiseless. So I guess I'll go with standard alnico 3s or upgraded alnico 5s. I love the feel of maple, so I'll probably do that. I'll just grab a MIM bridge for like $11 and put my own custom springs on it. (I did it with one that I sold, shoulda kept it) I'll get a new spring claw and have no back cover. I'll get an "F" logo plate and some Klusons. Then get a loaded boat jack and call it a day. Jeeze, I need my birthday/Christmas to come.

Also, could anyone offer a suggestion as to where this was made?

I also couldn't sand the horns very well. Any suggestions?

Howdy!

Buy a drum sander...

...or rap some sand paper around a suitably sized pipe (or something similar) and have at it! :D

First thing I grabbed was some 100 grit and a pencil. It revealed the bondo in the horns.

I'd still like to know where it was made, so please give me some input.

Speaking of finishes, I would think a cherry red transparent finish would set off the grain..??

I'm not doing graffiti yellow anymore. That was before I sanded it. I love the wood and all of the dings so much that I'm keeping it the same.

I mean manufactured back in 1984

Hey Buxom, I thought the yellow with TS would have looked great, I do like woodgrain though.
I refinished and built this naked mexican earlier this year.

The fact that he said "Naked Mexican" was pretty funny. Great guitar though. I read the whole thread.
