Hi everybody!

I am gonna buy myself my first Electric guitar at christmas. It will be a Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster.

I am left handed and I am a fan of Eric Clapton.

So, I am gonna ask for the same to be built but in left handed.

I have two questions:

Would the masterbuilders be O.K. to put the Eric Clapton signature on the headstock?

Would they be O.K. to build the same, but in left handed?

You need to post these questions in the "Ask Mike Eldred" forum. I don't know about all of your questions but I'm sure you will not get a CS guitar built for Christmas. I think the usual wait time is 12-18 months(depending on the master builder you choose). So, I'd suggest you get on the ball and order my friend. Good luck!

All kidding aside, a Custom Shop guitar is a lot of guitar for a starter guitar.

According to the video I just saw about the new Visitors Center the OP may just be able to pick out his components for his guitar and have it delivered in about 3 weeks!! Of course I'm sure he'll have to pick from what they have displayed but still it's not too shabby!!

Have a look!

That's true Bill but I was thinking of his time line of Christmas. I'm not sure OP has much idea of what a CS strat will cost him so this is just another way for him to consider I guess. It's up to him!
Although there are a lot of unanswered questions concerning the Visitor Center option like you say.

Hopefully the OP lives close to Fender and not in New York or outside the country.

Considering that one or more employees would have to be hired or pulled from the regular production line to build these guitars, I could see them costing at least 1.5 times a regular production guitar. It didn't look like more than a couple of people could work in that room at one time assembling their dream guitar. Factor in liability (Little Johhny manages to jam a screwdriver through his hand installing the neck) and you have a major problem. Then again, maybe all you can do is pick parts and place them together on the table without screws. Seems like a neat idea, but .....
