Yeah Rebelsoul, maybe you're right...

Maybe you do know more about the world and how it works than anyone else does. Maybe you do know more than the luthiers who build guitars and the players who have become successful playing them. Maybe someone like you who supposedly gigs with his guitars should be raised up to a position from which he can tell the rest of the universe "Exactly how it is" while we sit quietly and listen to The Master.

But on the other hand, Eric Johnson is a gigging musician too but he, unlike you, somehow believes that his instrument is an essential part of his craft. He also doesn't pontificate on INTERNET forums and he doesn't tell anyone else what to do. All he has to do to get our attention, is to plug in and play!

Lets see now.... Should I believe what Eric Johnson says and my own ears or should I get in step with some unknown voice on the Internet?

Well,,, I thought about it for a microsecond and I'll go with Eric or at least a hundred other guys, before I'll take you or your angry, condescending posts seriously. Oh And Supro's comment about gear snobs? Most of the gear snobs I know, are rabid music fans. You know, the common folk who grease the wheels for all of you pompous rock stars! ROFL!!!

All that said, I do want to thank you for the opportunity to choose!

There's no pompous rock stars here. Just some serious musicians sharing some experience. If you bothered to read any of our posts, not one of us belittled anyone for the gear they played.

Most gear snobs have more money than brains and talent. Eric Johnson doesn't gloat about the gear he plays. He's a little over the top, maybe a little OCD, and seriously talented, but many of his old Strats were sold not too long ago. And no I don't trust EJ's ears any better than mine. What works for Eric Johnson wouldn't work for me.

Do you have a CS Strat and got your panties in a knot because nobody really cares what anyone plays? There's nothing wrong with owning good gear. The snobbery that goes along with it is IMO hilarious. How are gear snobs greasing anyone's wheels? They just drive up the prices of old gear. This whole thread is a joke.

Now wait just a minute there, supro......

I'm proud of my "pomposity"!

Look guys...

The best way to kill those topics is not to respond to them. My presumption is that 60% of them are from Trolls and theres no reason to get into an argument, for someone else's amusement.

OTOH, IMHO, most of the posts crowing about the fact that a MIM is as good as or better than a SIG or a CS, are being made by delusional children. I have both, I know the difference and the differences are significant both materially and financially.

My pet peeve? The guys who go to every forum on the net and ask the same questions over and over and over.

You're the one doing the name calling and putting their MIM guitars down....do you gig with your guitars or just brag about them?...hanging on the wall in their special hangers.

I was surprised to learn that he had sold off most of his old Strats, but from one of the last interviews I read it sounds like he regrets it.

Looks like I missed out yesterday... :D

Wow, "pontificate on the internet". That was tops!

I dig Rebel´s amp. And put me down too for little or no effects.
For my part I only gig as a classical guitarist so I agree with Rebel that I ignore what qualities my 3 Strats have in a high voltage situation.
I only know them in the studio, as I spent 15 years in the jingle buisiness.
Guy walks in the studio claiming that he just spent the afternoon tweaking his Strat, and I KNOW the intonation is going to be a problem.
Pickup noise and intonation are issues.
If your MIM is recording well, we loves it. If your highly modded expensive axe plays out in the chorus, its a goner.

Now that I've listened more carefully, I'm *certain* that sounds like a nitro finish on a three piece ash body...

"Aren't we in the entertainment business, whether ourselves (before bed time that is,) or others?"

On both sides of the equation.
