Look all i'm trying to say is, how many times have you read a post that indicates "MIM strats are just as good as MIA strats, MIA strats are not worth the extra cost". We all know it's some guy who couldn't afford the MIA, and is just trying to boost his ego. The MIA strats are Fenders flagship guitars and that's the bottom line. You own an MIA strat, you own the real McCoy.

Personally, I own three MIJ strats. I used to own two MIAs, but I sold them to buy more MIJ strats. I love to play them, and I don't need someone else telling me, they are better or worse than MIAs or MIMs. I like how my MIJs play and that's all that should matter.

Its funny you mentioned the MIJ's. A friend just bought a MIJ today and having it shipped to his house. Can't wait to hear it.

I wanted my beat up Chinese Squier to kill my friends MIM Strat.
I wanted to teach him a lesson about the guitar and the man, as I play better than he does.
Got my butt kicked.
:P

It's all just gear snobbery. Play what you like. If you don't like a MIM guitar, don't buy it, but don't tell someone it's inferior just because of where it's made. I've played some pretty bad MIA Tele's and Strat's last week. Poor setup, sharp fret ends and finish problems. I've even seen Custom Shop guitars that I thought were pretty bad too. I originally went out to buy a MIA Strat and came home with a P-90 Gibson. I'm not saying all Strat's and Tele's are bad, but if you want to throw stones...... Given the current economy, I wanted to throw some money in the States. I bought both a Gibson and a Martin. But I'd still have no problem with a MIM guitar.

And while we're at it, let's kill all redundant best strings, best pickups, best action, favorite color, nitro vs poly, tube vs solid state, how to set up a guitar, best guitarist, maple vs rosewood, tone is in your fingers, Strat vs Tele, all troll posts, ....... my fingers are tired.

I have yet to read a post that insinuates, people who pay $15 for a set of guitar strings are morons because $7 strings are the same thing. Thats what MIM vs MIA posts are really about.

You sir, are a troll.

...if you went out expecting to get a Fender, and came home with something else, then that must have been an educated purchase indeed.

With the MIM´s, just avoid the more inexpensive ones and you will be happy.

I've been playing guitar for over 40 years, I just buy what suits me and my style, I still do my homework. I'm not brand loyal. I consider guitars and amps creative tools. I also don't own more than one model of any guitar. I found out a long time ago I get in a rut if I only play one make or style of guitar.

Goes without saying. I didn't get a high end LP. I bought a LP Studio 60's Tribute with P-90's. Usually I don't care for Studio models but the P-90's are pretty impressive. It's doesn't have any binding and is pretty plain. It has a worn finish but not over done like the Fender Relics and Road Worns. The Nitro is really thin so it should actually get some nice natural wear pretty quickly. The nut is Pleked and it plays beautifully and the P-90'S sound incredible. The body is chambered so it adds some resonance and drops the weight a bit. I couldn't go wrong for $850. It's a limited edition too and made in the USA. Great fun. It won't break my heart if it get gets beat up or scratched. It's just a fun, affordable tool to add to the toolbox.

Nah, its more fun this way. Why don't we kill the rosewood versus maple thread while we're at it.....

I would SERIOUSLY like to see THAT one killed. I have a rosewood Strat and a maple Tele and they both play and sound great. What's the difference, really?? Looks and personal preference. That's about it.

Hi axeman417: have there been many MIM-MIA threads recently? I must have missed them. I thought we'd been relatively free of that stuff of late, no?

Though honestly, Mr Unknown is talking through his hat on that one, isn't he?

I think we've all met a fair few inferior instruments over the years, and not only back when we were inferior musicians...

Cheers - C

EDIT: OK, upon scrolling down I do see one lurking MIM-MIA thread. But that's fairly low by our standards isn't it? I can't be bothered to click on it; is it a specially bad one?
