After years of putting it off, I finally got my first real Strat. I have a partscaster, a black Strat-like guitar, but this is my first real Strat. It's an American Special, in Candy Apple Red, and I can't say enough good things about this guitar. I played a ton of Strats (Mexican and American), and this was the best one, period.

She sounds fantastic through my Classic 30.

Gorgeous Strat man, congratulations!

Nothing beats jumbo frets IMO.

The CAR really pops in the picture too.

It's funny - at the start of my Strat search, I didn't want yet another red guitar (one of my other guitars is a transparent red), but the Candy Apple Red was just incredible - subtle and beautiful.

Beautiful axe, Prolog! I have to agree with TobiJ, I Love the jumbo frets...I have the Highway One, which I think is pretty much the same as the American Special, but with different pups.

Enjoy!

Fantastic photo. Candy Apple red and maple neck is a winning combination. I think choosing between an American standard and special is tough. They both offer something different but they are both so desirable. How are you finding the Texas specials? I love those pickups and miss having them in a strat?

They're different. I mean, they definitely sound like Strat pickups, but the voicing is interesting. I have a more vintage set (Chevalier 1962s) in my partscaster, and the Texas Specials don't get nearly the same chime and snap. But they have a nice, warm sound, and really roar with some OD. They're different than what I'm used to, but that's neither better nor worse. :)

Thanks! I was just using an old point-and-shoot digital camera, so I think I got lucky!
