I may be buying a used (1-2 years old) Fender Lite Ash Strat in the Natural finish.

The owner tells me that it has a Soft V neck. I questioned him about it, since Fender's web-site indicates that the Lite Ash neck is a Modern C neck; but he insisted that the neck was a Soft V and that the guitar is completely original.

Does this sound right to you?

doesn't sound right to me. i may be corrected here, but i bought a lite ash strat 2 years ago w/ the birdseye maple neck--- great guitar for the money, and it has the modern c-neck. i know the difference since i put together a "57 RI" (bought the 57 neck that is definitely a V and a '57 re-issue loaded body). the two necks aren't even close. anyway, if this is a true lite ash strat, i recommend it, but as with all guitars, i'd play it first.

a local guitar store where i live has 3 lite ash strats in natural and all have the v shape neck. i would even go as far as to say they are more of a hard v than a soft v. i own one that i bought new in vintage white and it has a very soft v, like on the 57 reissue. i have seen that in the specs per this site that they are supposed to have a c shape but all the ones i have had the opportunity to play, all had a v shape. some are sharper than others. not really sure why the discrepancy but all i have seen and played were v shaped.

I have a Highway One HSS and a Custom Tele FMT HH and both have Modern C necks. I like the C neck.

The guy is asking $425 for the guitar and a new HSC. I like the price, but I'm leary of the product!

Wow. Modern C, Soft V and Hard V Lite Ash Strats? Maybe Fender can tell us if they're making the Lite Ash strats in three (3) different neck configurations.

I thought for sure I had seen soft-V spec somewhere too. Current spec is "C".

Please note that Fender puts this notice on all of its' spec sheets... "Product Prices, Features, Specifications and Availability Are Subject To Change Without Notice "
