I've said this a thousand times: IMO, for a predominantly production line instrument, Gibsons are astronomically overpriced. Yet, players continue to pay these prices, swearing up and down that they are worth every bit of it. YMMV.

Yep...it's really something that my '77 Custom isn't worth as much as most new Les Pauls...I bought it new and it's got well worn actual relicing and looks and plays great...if it was a '77 Strat it would probably be worth more...and increase in value over time....seems like they just lie in limbo value land, and the new ones escalate in price.

A Les Paul priced as much as they are should have premier parts in it...I agree with you Donny...it shouldn't have an inferior part that isn't reliable.

Wow sorry bout the inlay prob. Yeah thats why I will own many strats and only 1 Les Paul lol. I actually wanted the Silver Burst Custom but 4000 bucks is a bit more than its worth.
Oh and brotha with the money order if you wanna make that out for 1650.00 consider it yours ;)

Thanks Donny, that guitar has been cared for and when the inlay fell out it looked like there was hardly any glue at all there,I realise it's a '77 and the glue might have dried up,but you see all those '59s going for hundreds of thousands that still have the inlays intact.
The tech who is a very good one told me that some guy he does work for was out west somewhere in a high altitude dry air climate and in a short time the inlays started popping out,I think while he was playing a gig!
That's the only Les Paul I own,and I have 5 Strats currently....Strats are tough!

Yeah Im stickin with one les paul too. I have this 08 deluxe strat, need to find another. I have thought about standards with a super-vee, just not sure.
The blacktop floyd rose strat is cool. Im gonna put dimarzios in it. My style is kinda like Zakk Wylde meets Jimi Hendrix lol.
I imagine anything will pale in compare to this deluxe. But yeah I have gave up the exotic shaped ones i used to have.
That les paul you got is sweet man.
