Hey guys. I bought an american standard last weekend. I noticed that there is a plastic covering over the pickguard. It runs underneath the tone and volume controls as well. I was wondering if there is a way to remove these controls to take the plastic off without having to goof around with the wiring. Thanks.

Run a shoelace under the controls and work it off carefully, then just remove the plastic. No Problem.

thats what i'll do... maybe even wait till a string change to make it easier, its not like the plastic is a big deal for a few weeks or so

Its no biggie if you leave it on for a while. When I bought my hwy 1 I left it on way too long. It wasnt pretty. I had to clean off so much of the residue when I finally got it off. Im an arse I know. I ll never make that mistake twice.

you can also take a guitar pick in each hand and use them both to gently pry the knobs off. also, its easier to get it out from under the screws by loosening them a little. they will often do this for you in the shop if you ask them too.
