Congrats! I was looking at a 3-tone sunburst, tinted maple neck 08 american standard today. WOW what a guitar... my only reservation is the bridge. It looks like its floating. What are your thoughts on the bridge? Again congrats! Post a pic of her if you get a chance.

Congrats!! The standards are great. I have a 93 standard that I just love. I bought it new, and wouldn't dream of ever letting it go.

bluesdown,

I love that combo too but I also had reservations about the tremolo so I got a American Standard sunburst/maple hardtail :D

I got the Am. Standard in 3 color sunburst with a maple neck in the beginning of the year. Great guitar and hard to put down.

Be careful with those "No Interest for 1 year" deals. Try to pay as much off in the first year- the interest on those deals will kill you. My Blues Junior was supposed to be $345 and with paying minnimum payments it ballooned to almost $600 by the time I paid it off.

Other than that, sounds like a great axe. Good deal, man.

Congrats. That sure does sound like a deal that you can't pass up on.

No interest no payments is great if you can pay it off in less than a year. You have to be careful though, if you go over a year, they probrably make the interest retroactive to day 1. Meaning its really no interest for a year only if you pay it off before the year is up.

And then they send you the statement each month that says you owe $35 bucks (but payment is optional) and you decide to skip the payment and spend the money on booze or women or something. Then the year goes by and you still owe the full amount plus back interest for an entire year. This is why that guy almost payed twice as much as he should have.

Be careful with that stuff.

yeah, i'll try to pay off a guitar in full bash if at all possible because those plans can indeed trick you and screw you over

Hell with me it was just the simple fact I'm in college and money was short when I bought that amp. My old amp gave out and I needed another small amp right away (I was playing with my college's jazz band and we had nothing to use).

Mine was a 3 month at a local shop- it was a nightmare trying to get that card handled. They never sent me a bill for the first three months so i couldn't mail a payment, then they would send me a payment slip two or three DAYS before it was due and then I couldn't get it postmarked fast enough... it was hell.

But if you are smart about it, which you seem to be with paying it off, you'll be fine. DON'T think it's 35 bucks a month for 36 months- that's probably the minimum payments, not the total.

Good luck and enjoy the guitar!
