I have a 2000 mim strat. I just noticed the high e doesn't line up with the pole piece. After looking at other guitars this looks common. The high e also sounds weak. The pup
is a Fralin steelpole 43. I don't mind the looks, I just need more volume out of the 1st string. If there is already good reading on this please help direct me to it. Thanks JD

Can you post a pic, taken directly above the pup, showing all 6 strings and pole pieces? I think that you have the 2-1/16" (narrow) string spacing, which would put the outside strings towards the inside of the pole pieces on the neck pup. The high E and low E should line up similarly inside their respective poles. I wonder if there is room to adjust the angle of the neck a little towards the high E side. If the low E string is lined up better on it's pole, there might be room to adjust.

That happens with many, if not most, single coils with strats. They make them all with the same spacing, so the bridge pickup wont line up because its on an angle. I have Dimarzio Area pickups in a couple strats, and the same thing happens, except its the low E. I think which one lines up is dependent on what pickguard you're using, and aftermarket wont line up the same as a Fender factory one. While it makes a difference, it shouldnt be so much that you can hear a drop off in volume, you may want to raise that side of the pickup with the height scew.

I worked with it yesterday its a little better. I'm still not getting the same volume as the B string but it could also be the difference in string size. It is the neck P/U that is the issue. After market pick guard and after market neck both from Warmoth. The original pup that I took out looks to be the same size as the Fralin. I will give Lindy a call he is always very helpfull, I will let you know what he recomends. I am thinking about the lace sencer red in the neck pos.. The guitar has the SSH configuration and the Seymour Duncan custom custom in the bridge sounds good and lines up good with the strings. I will try getting some pictures its my pic.card its needing reviewed.

T that is odd. I've had Fralins in a Strat for a while (changed them to ones I like better, but I still have Fralin wind ALL the PAFs I use), and I never had that problem. The Area pickups don't line up perfect, but even in those the high E tends to be the most prominent.
You are better off calling Lindy. Id have to see the guitar at this point, or at least photos.

The neck and strings look perfectly aligned. It appears that the pick guard is not properly cut, and the pickup holes are slightly off to the right. I just measured from the edge of the neck to the edge of the pup using the picture, you could do the same on the guitar to verify. Maybe compare the new pick guard to the original.

Even though the pick guard seems wrong, to try and compensate for this apparent error, you can loosen the four neck plate screws a little, and tilt the angle of the neck towards the high E just a little, pushing at the headstock with one hand, while holding the upper horn on the body with the other hand, then re-tighten the four screws. With the narrow string spacing, you should still have room on the high E side edge of the fret board, so that the string won't fall off the edge, as long as you don't move the neck much, it only needs a little.
