ok guys i have my strat under works but the guy doing the paint job to the body and neck says that he can't put the fender logo on my 50's strat headstock due to legal purposes (even though he has the custom shop logo on the back of the headstock so i don't see where the problem is) so now i need a nice alternative for the front of the headstock any suggestions?

EDIT: would someone starting a custom shop run into legal issues if he put a fender logo in the front of a headstock just to look beautiful if he put the logo and serial number of the custom shop on the back of a headstock (therefore prooving it to not be authentic)?

Why would you want to put a Fender logo on a non-Fender guitar?

That was my joke. Fonder strit!  8)

Sorry...

Perhaps just have "custom" printed on the front... that would look cool!!

In my opinion a guitar doesnt need "fender" to look cool or to have my respect. G&L strats are spectacular and yet not many people know of them or buy them just because it doesnt say Fender, which is a shame really.

i hear that i actually tried one of them out they are awesome :D leo really went forward with them you could tell but a real work of art is that telecaster bass they have the ASAT... i'm not exactly brand loyal nor would i think that having a fender logo would make it a quality instrument i just thought it would look pretty awesome on the headstock since it's a 50's head

i thought of putting custom i don't like the idea the guy suggested putting my name but i think it would look corny considering i have "ralf caetano custom" under the serial number

lool now i got it!!! fonder stritocaster   that would be a good way to go around my problem

Ah i get ya now!

Yeah G&L are incredible all round!

Caetano Custom sounds awesome! haha.

Maybe fiddle around with some cool fonts first then think of your logo and chuck it on.

Give your strat a name and put that on the headstock... like "Lucy" or something 8) 8)

i name all my guitars sadly i haven't found a name that fits this one yet my guess is if i play it i'll get something all my guitars have been named but always in my hand it depends much on my mood at that moment and what i'm living and i always get girl names as a result...

i'm gonna get a headstock template and see what i get

I'm not sure why it would be an issue. If Fender has authorized aftermarket necks and bodies, they allow you to put their logo on it. You just can't put their S/N on it.

Actually, they don't. Fo example, Warmoth is licensed to reproduce the headstock but will not place a Fender logo OR ANY LOGO, not even their own, in the "traditional naming place" of the headstock (the info is on their website). No matter who you are, you are not authorized to use the Fender logo in any way at any time. It is Fender's trademark, and they get to control it.

For confirmation, call Fender and tell them you want a decal for your All-Parts neck. See what they say.

Besides, it's cooler to design your own, IMO. A one-of-a-kind guitar should have a one-of-a-kind decal. This is the headstock of my Warmoth Strat-style guitar... the logo is based on my signature.

There's been much discussion about the proper use of Fender 'logo' and issues of trademark and copyright infringment with respect to that in these pages in the past. It is really serious business.

Pretty much which has been offered to you as a 'no-no' in the responses herein, is valid with respect to re-nstalling a Fender logo transfer after a repair/refinish.

The unique individual logo offered in this thread is an example of the kind of creativity we have seen among our members in the past, the pursuit of which I strongly encourage in your case. We would all be interested in seeing what you come up with.

Doc.
