i found a nice strat i'm interested in, the Serial # is N+6 digits which dates to 1993-4. But something about the guitar is weird. Look at the bridge. It is bolted with only 2 bolts. did Fender ever create a bridge like that?

thanks for your help

Looks like a 1999 American standard to me.
The bridge is the normal 2 post you would expect with this model :D

I would say that $600 for a 99 Am Std Strat (Or Am Series) with original case, is a pretty good deal, if all is well with the guitar. It could bring as much as $800 and more, if in good condition. Looks nice. :)

The two bolt is what is referred to as the Two Point Tremolo system. The old vintage style that is common on Mexican Strats has the six screws instead. That is a cool looking strat that appears to be a MIA standard.

As everyone else has said the 2-post bridge is correct.

However, this is not a 1999 American Standard; it is a 1990 American Standard from early in the year. If you look at the headstock decal - it is the silver "modern" Fender logo and the serial number is on the front of the headstock; sometime in 1995 Fender changed American Standards to using the vintage-style "spaghetti" Fender logo and moved the serial number to the back of the headstock.

This is a known Fender serial number anomaly - they were supposed to use numbers that began with an "N0" in 1990 but accidentaly used decals that began with "N9" (which should have been used in 1999) for several months in early 1990. They eventually caught the mistake and switched using the "N0" serial number decals.

That doesn't impact the current pricing of the guitar; it seems like only the 1986/87 American Standards carry any premium pricing. It looks to be in good shape for a guitar that is now at least 21 years old.
