Like a total moron I was changing the tuners on my Highway 1 and I didnt drill my pilot hole well enough... I cracked my headstock (a smallish crack) right near the low E.

The moment it happened i filled the hole with Titebond 3... anyone know if it will be alright, or is it going to snap off eventually?

here is a pic...

or you can see it bigger here... http://stratproject.googlepages.com/HeadstockCrack.jpg/HeadstockCrack-full.jpg

Any help or advice would be really helpful.

That hurts! DOn't know if you will have problems in the future or not. Play the hell out of it and let us know! Worse case you can snag a neck of craigslist or ebay. I just missed out on a 1998 American strat for $200.00 on craigslist yesterday. Was sold 10 minutes before I called.

I would definately have a luthier check it instead of taking any chances. Good luck.

Wd Music or Warmoth should both have single ply white pickguards.

You can get your white single ply pickguard here... [url]http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/pickguards_genuinefenderstrat57.htm

As for the craigslist guitar... I sent that guy a message too and he had already sold it... Funny small world.

And as far as the headstock crack is concerned, the glue is holding strong... i threw the guitar up on its hangar last night cause i figured if the headstock can hold the full weight of the guitar it should be fine... this morning all was well.

So bottom line, I'm not thrilled about the crack, but it doesnt effect playability at all... still a really sweet guitar!
