Considering how long it was offered, I wouldn't say it was accepted very well.

you know, you could make a better guitar by just buying a normal strat, and throwing a humbucker in the bridge, and taking out the other pickups.

you'd have to get a new pickguard too. but those aren't expensive.

ironically, the first song I learned on guitar was "adams song" by Blink 182. I hate them, and always have. its just that the person who got me started playing guitar knew how to play it, and it was pretty much the only thing he knew back then.

Then I'd say that's a good thing for Fender.

lol.... Tom Delonge played well for the sugar coated style of pop punk that he played.... how does that make him a bad guitarist?.... He played very cleanly and smooth, and didn't use tons of gain.... I'm not trying to say he was an amazing guitarist.... but for the sound he needed.... I thought he was excellent

I have to agree with stratwhore. A guitar hero doesn't have to be amazing at what they do. My first guitar hero was my father who pointed me in the direction of SRV playing style. I have since surpassed his (my father) abilities. Another 6 string idol is Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins who plays nowhere near his max ability in the studio. Tom's playing on records doesn't necessarily reflect his absolute talent level. It only reflects the style he enjoys playing. He probably has the same heros that most guitar players have. I picked up a few blink songs (all you need to be able to play every song they produced, hahaha) and they are a delight to play because of their simplicity.

My first guitar hero was John Lennon and well....he wasn't that much of a guitar player. But some of his stuff was pretty good. His guitar work on I Want You/She's So Heavy, She Said, Revolution, You Can't Do That, Get Back, The End, etc... was better then a lot of stuff I've heard over the years.

yeah, i am not a huge fan of Tom but i'd take a signature strat for a decent price any day. if it is still a decent price toward the end of the auction i may join in the bidding. nice convo piece for later too.
