I bought a new American Standard Strat at GC, black with maple fretboard. I must say I am impressed with the quality of this particular instrument. I played all they had and this one sounded the best. Only thing I had to do was slot the nut a little deeper on the high E. For strings, I use 10's so I had to do a setup, as it came with 9's. I use 4 springs on the trem, which I had a set laying around. The 3 black springs it came with seemed weaker than what I'm used to. The pickups sound pretty darn good IMO. DC resistance for each is: neck=5.8K, middle=6.0K, and bridge=7.2K! That's similar to an EJ setup I believe. Very balanced sounding with some grunt at the bridge, but still very strat-like. 8)

Congrats rjake!

Yeah, those black springs are weak, replaced mine too. I think that the Am Std is a great Strat, good for you. Now you know why they call it a "hot" bridge pup. However, you should know the rules by now, pics please. :D

+1

Only a cad regales us with tales of a new guitar then leaves us twisting in the wind by not posting the requisite pics!

Post 'em if you got 'em!

His 'woman from Tokyo' pulled him from the flames at the last possible moment -- a real 'child in time', she.
